The role
As Finofo’s Senior Back End Engineer, you will have an opportunity to build the next critical components of our platform and have an immediate impact on our product roadmap. It is a demanding role and perfect for people who love to build high-impact components and have the mindset of shipping fast, learning from the feedback, and iterating.
You will be asked to ramp up fast and deliver value immediately, but we are here to help support your learning of our codebase, product, and engineering processes. We promise rapid development and a feedback loop for you to master your craft.
The team
You will be joining an experienced team with both founders having deep industry experience in the FX products. We attract an extremely high level of VC investor interest for our next round; so much so that we decided to share this attention with other cool startups actively raising right now. We’re based in Calgary and have an office in downtown Calgary. The company is well-funded by investors like Motivate Venture Capital, SaaS Ventures, Desjardins, and Sweet Spot Capital.

Your Skill Set
We're looking for someone who has mastery in at least one OOP language (Python, Java or Typescript), experience with one cloud platform (AWS), SQL (PostgreSQL), and REST API architecture.
- 5+ years of professional hands-on experience, preferably in early-stage or young startups.
- Proficient understanding of microservices, cloud-native architectures, and deployment patterns.
- Experience designing REST APIs and familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger standards.
- Strong data modelling skills and hands-on experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL).
- Superb analytical abilities coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bonus Points for:
- Experience with AWS
- Experience working on fintech platforms/payment systems
- Experience with ERP/Accounting platform integrations
