To produce a bar chart in Excel, start by selecting the data you wish to portray. Subsequently, opt for the desired chart type by navigating to the Insert tab and clicking the Bar button. This action opens the bar chart options. Further, select the data to represent by clicking the Data tab and choosing the Select Data button. This prompts the Select Data Source dialog box. Within the dialog box, click on the data you want to represent and then click OK to close the dialog box. Finally, choose the preferred chart type by clicking the Chart Type button, initiating the Chart Type dialog box. Select the bar chart type and click OK to close the dialog box.

Types of Bar Charts

Diverse bar chart types exist, with the clustered bar chart being the most common for data comparison. To create a clustered bar chart, follow the aforementioned steps for selecting data and choosing the chart type, but specifically opt for the clustered bar chart type within the Chart Type dialog box.
