How to Add a Header in Excel

Adding a header to your Excel sheet can help make your data more readable and organized. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to add a header in Excel.

Inserting a Header:

  • Go to the Insert tab in the Excel ribbon.
  • Select Header & Footer. This will open a new pane on the right side of your screen.
  • In the Header section of the pane, type in your header text. You can also format it as needed.

Inserting Images into the Header:

  • To insert an image, click on the Insert tab and select Picture.
  • Choose your image using the file explorer window.
  • Once inserted, you can move and resize the image to fit in the header.

  • If you want to add a header to just one page, go to the Page Layout tab and select Header & Footer.
  • In the Header section, select the Different First Page checkbox. This allows you to add a different header for the first page.
  • Type in your header text, format it, and click OK.
