How to Align an Excel Worksheet Horizontally

When you align a worksheet horizontally in Microsoft Excel, it positions the content evenly between the left and right margins of the page. This distinguishes it from vertical alignment, found in the Page Layout tab's Page Setup group. Horizontal alignment imparts a professional appearance to your worksheet and proves handy when printing a sheet that doesn't fit on a single page.

Guidelines

  1. Begin by opening the worksheet in Excel that you wish to align horizontally. To align multiple worksheets simultaneously, hold the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard, click on each worksheet tab located at the bottom of the Excel window, and then release the "Ctrl" key.
  2. Access the "Page Layout" tab, the second tab from the left at the top of the Excel window.
  3. Locate and select the "Center" button within the Page Setup group. A drop-down menu will appear—choose "Horizontally."
  4. Click on the "File" tab situated at the top-left corner of the Excel window. This action will open the File menu.
  5. Save your changes by clicking "Save." If you plan to print the worksheet, navigate to the "File" tab, click "Print," and then select "Print."
